About the position

We are seeking a highly-motivated, self-starter as a Business Development Specialist to join our team!

The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for owning the identification and development of quality sales opportunities for our business team. The BDS will be responsible for prospecting and nurturing new opportunities from outbound activities and building a strong pipeline of sales opportunities to deliver on monthly targets. The ideal candidate will be coachable, driven, highly motivated, enthusiastic and a team player. The BDS will play a crucial role in our lead generation, creation and implementation of lead generation strategies/processes and will also be a bridge between our Sales Team and Client Services Team. The successful candidate will also be very organized, analytical and communicative as this role will also entail generating and analyzing data as well as ensuring ongoing clear and concise communication both within and across teams.

Business Development Specialists will work with and learn from great sellers, and will enjoy strong leadership in a supportive environment focused on personal development and growth over the full sales cycle.

Accountabilities

  • Prospect a variety of companies and organizations across the life sciences industry globally
  • Generate interest and create opportunities with new prospects via cold calling, email, phone, Linkedin, etc. to build a pipeline of targeted prospects
  • Research companies and evaluate their structure and marketing & communications strategies to understand how best to position Impetus’ products and services.
  • Maintain a high level of activity including outbound calls, emails, and social selling
  • Conduct high-level consultative conversations with C-Level executives, Directors, and Managers of prospect accounts
  • Ask strategic and open-ended questions to prospects that uncover business needs and overcome objections
  • Schedule product demonstrations, and collaborate with their sales team to qualify customers, build a pipeline and drive deals
  • Meet and exceed daily, weekly and monthly activity goals
  • Leverage lead generation tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, industry online magazines, industry-specific websites, social media outlets, etc. to create relationships with prospects
  • Generate and analyze data and ensure clear and concise communication within/across teams, predominantly the Sales and Client Services departments
  • Be an integral part of the Sales and Marketing team on campaigns and providing input on strategy

Qualifications

  • 1 year of business or internship experience within the life sciences sector (pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech)
  • Desire to work in B2B tech sales
  • Well rounded with varied interests, background, and proven leadership experience
  • Coachable, self-motivated, curious, and resilient
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to articulate and present our value proposition to prospective clients
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a university or college with evidence of high achievement in academics and extracurriculars
  • Entrepreneurial and motivated to contribute to the growth of a small company
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and listening skills; presentation expertise
  • Ability to easily learn, adapt to, and learn new technology systems and project management software
  • Self-directed and ability to be productive without direct supervision
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment in a remote setting
  • Thrive in a very fast-paced environment
  • Can navigate through ambiguity and proactively develop processes when required
  • Proficient in G Suite, MS Office tools, and a keen ability to quickly learn new software applications (e.g. project management software – Atlassian products: Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset
